3 days
The 3‑Day PAT Testing Course (City & Guilds 2377 EET qualification) is specifically designed for beginners and those new to portable appliance testing. With no prior electrical experience required, this course combines two days of theory learning and one day of hands-on, training, preparing delegates for both the theory and practical aspects of PAT testing
This 3‑day PAT testing training is perfect for:
Day One: Electrical Foundation Theory
Day Two: Theory
Day Three: Practical
Delegates will complete an open-book, online multiple-choice examination, lasting 1 hour and 45 minutes. The assessment consists of 50 questions and is based on the IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment – 5th Edition.
In addition to the theory assessment, candidates will be required to undertake a practical assignment, which involves the inspection and testing of two electrical appliances, along with the completion of the relevant documentation in accordance with best practice and regulatory standards.
On successful completion, delegates receive the City & Guilds 2377‑77 Level 3 certificate in Portable Appliance/Equipment Testing, providing nationally recognized evidence of competence for electrical testing in workplaces. This qualification helps organisations meet Health & Safety at Work, PUWER, and Electricity at Work Regulations requirements
Candidates must be aged 18 or over. While City & Guilds does not specify formal entry requirements for this qualification, it is essential that learners possess a foundational understanding of electrical systems and the hazards associated with electricity to successfully complete the course.
It is expected that candidates will already have relevant industry experience or training. For example, individuals who hold an ECS card, a JIB electrician grade card, or have completed a Level 3 NVQ-based electrotechnical apprenticeship or technical certificate are likely to meet the necessary knowledge criteria.
Applicants without formal qualifications may still be accepted onto the course if they can demonstrate sufficient prior knowledge and practical experience. In such cases, Pragmatic Consulting will assess eligibility on a case-by-case basis to ensure learners have the potential to achieve the qualification.
Candidates with appropriate experience and understanding may be eligible for the 2-day condensed version of the course.
Please note: a minimum level of spoken and written English is required to complete this training and its assessments effectively.
