Course Overview
Where an organisation’s risk assessment of First Aid needs identifies that there is a requirement for Emergency First Aid at Work practitioners, then this national Award in Emergency First Aid at Work satisfies the requirements of the regulatory body for First Aid - the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Course Content:
All learners will have the skills and knowledge to provide the organisation with Emergency First Aider’s that can provide treatment to their casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner.
A range of subjects are covered including:
- Responsibilities and reporting
- Assessment of the situation
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Basic hygiene in First Aid
- Resuscitation and AED awareness
- Anatomy
- Minor injuries
- Bleeding control
- Burns
- Choking
- Epilepsy
- Shock
Assessment
Continuous practical assessment is carried out by the instructor throughout the day, including a written assessment.
Certificates
This qualification lasts for 3 years after which the delegates will need to sit the EFAW Re-Qual course. A certificate and card will be issued subject to successful assessment. However, it is recommended that during the 3-year period, the delegates attend annual refresher courses.

Must be a minimum of 14 years of age
