The EUSR Safe Control of Mains Connection (SCMC) Water course is designed for water industry operatives and supervisors involved in mains water connection activities. This accredited training equips delegates with the knowledge and understanding needed to safely manage water mains connections in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Recognised by water companies and contractors across the UK, this course is essential for those involved in Self-Lay Provider (SLP) contestable works, providing clarity on roles, responsibilities, and regulatory obligations.
While this course focuses on managing and supervising connections, it does not provide the practical skills to physically carry out mains connections. Delegates involved in connection work must hold EUSR registrations for National Water Hygiene, Utility SHEA (Water), and Level 2 Network Construction Operations (Water) where required.
SCMC Water falls under the Water Industry Registration Scheme (WIRS), ensuring alignment with industry expectations and regulatory standards.

A new Authorised Signatory Approval Form must now be completed and submitted to LRQA for validation, in line with the current EUSR requirements.
Before a delegate can be registered on the SCMC (Water) scheme, the following steps must be completed:
Please refer to the below flow charts and documents for guidance on the correct process and which forms are required. Full guidance and documentation can be found on the EUSR website.
