The Substation Appreciation course provides non-technical staff and newcomers with essential knowledge about the role, function, and structure of electrical substations in the UK power network. It introduces delegates to fundamental substation components, operational principles, and safety considerations, including high-voltage equipment and grid interconnections.
This course is ideal for support staff, project managers, administrative professionals, and those working alongside engineering or field teams who require a broader understanding of substation operations without hands-on technical training.

The course provides a high-level overview of each component’s purpose and function, helping delegates identify equipment and understand its role within the substation.
This course is designed to provide guidance and best practice for those working on or in proximity to National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) assets, it references NGET procedures and industry practices to support understanding and application in the workplace. It is not an official NGET training course and is not endorsed by or delivered on behalf of NGET.
