This City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Network Construction Operations (Gas Main Layer) is designed for operatives who install and maintain gas mains on the public gas network. The course covers essential skills including pipe-laying, mains connection, testing, and reinstatement. It provides nationally recognised certification to progress your gas utility career.
This comprehensive course encompasses both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in gas main laying.
Assessment is by means of practical site assessments, written tasks, and portfolio evidence.
Upon successful completion, candidates will receive the City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Network Construction Operations (Gas) – Main Layer qualification. This certification is recognised by the Energy & Utility Skills Register (EUSR), facilitating site access for main laying activities.
EUSR registration is valid for five years and is renewable upon completion of refresher training or demonstration of continued competence. Holding this qualification also opens pathways to advanced roles, such as supervisory positions or specialised technical roles within gas network operations.
While prior experience in the gas industry is beneficial, it is not mandatory. However, candidates must obtain the EUSR Safety, Health, and Environmental Awareness (SHEA) Gas Passport before accessing construction sites.
