The CITB Temporary Works Supervisor Training Course (TWSTC) is a one-day programme designed to develop a solid understanding of the Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) role and its place within the temporary works management process.
Created in collaboration with the Temporary Works Forum, the HSE, and Build UK, this course aligns with the guidance set out in BS 5975:2019 and BS 5975-1:2024. It focuses on how effective supervision supports safe and compliant temporary works, whether on small projects or major construction sites.
Rather than providing technical design training, the course emphasises the management principles and responsibilities that underpin good temporary works practice. It explores the importance of the “4Cs” – communication, co-ordination, co-operation, and competency – as key components of safe and successful project delivery.
On completion, delegates will understand the role and responsibilities of a Temporary Works Supervisor, the relationship with the Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC), and the critical part supervision plays in maintaining control and safety standards on site.
The qualification is recognised across the UK, endorsed by Build UK, and valid for five years before renewal is required.
