• SCO Core Module:
  • Introduction to the SCO scheme
  • Legal requirements and responsibilities under gas safety law
  • Safe systems of work and hazard recognition
• SCO Module 1 – Permit to Work (Routine Operations):
  • Issuing, accepting and cancelling permits
  • Roles and responsibilities in routine operations

• SCO Module 2 – Permit to Work (Non-Routine Operations):
  • Procedures for non-routine, complex or higher-risk operations

The course heavily uses the IGEM/GL/6 Edition 3 which was introduced into SCO to increase the emphasis on risk-based management of gas safety systems and gives gas distribution companies the flexibility to develop their own gas safety procedures based on meeting the common requirements of GL/6.

The SCO scheme is based around the requirements for meeting GL/6 compliance.

Assessment & Certification

Candidates must complete multiple-choice or written assessments for each module.

• For CP - Multiple choice questions after each module plus an audit of a Permit to Work
• For AE - Multiple choice questions after each module plus an audit and a write of a Permit to Work

Certificates

Upon successful completion,  participants will receive EUSR registration for SCO Core and Modules 1 & 2, valid for 5 years.

In order for your SCO to be used, your SHEA Gas must remain in date. 

Prerequisites

Candidates must hold a valid EUSR SHEA Gas Passport to attend this course. Prior knowledge of gas systems and operational procedures is recommended.
