The CITB SMSTS Refresher is a focused two-day course designed to update and reinforce the health and safety management knowledge of those who have previously completed the full SMSTS qualification.
This refresher ensures managers remain current with the latest legislation, industry standards, and best practice guidance within construction, building, and civil engineering. It provides a valuable opportunity to revisit key principles from the original course while exploring new developments and changes that affect today’s site management responsibilities.
By the end of the programme, participants will have refreshed their understanding of safe site leadership, risk management, and legal compliance, helping them maintain a positive and proactive health and safety culture on site.

The content covered by this SMSTS refresher course includes but isn’t limited to the below

There is an exam at the end of the course that lasts for 35 minutes and consists of 25 questions, selected by CITB, covering all aspects of the course. The exam pass mark is 81% (26 out of 32).
Each exam paper has 18 multiple choice questions (each worth one mark) and 7 questions in multi-response or short written answer format (each worth two marks)
Delegates are permitted to use the Construction site safety – The comprehensive guide (GE700) publication and the Construction site management delegate workbook (XA6) for the last 15 minutes of the exam.
The exam must be taken at the end of the site management safety training course.
On successful completion of the 2-day site management safety training refresher course, the delegates CITB (Site Safety Plus) Certificate will be renewed, this is sent electronically to the course booker.
To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake a course before the expiry date on your certificate, otherwise the full course will need to be retaken.
