TP137.11 Coaching and Training

The TP137.11 PCSM Role has a number of Pre Requisties.  We have put together two programmes to help both new and experienced candidates through the process.  This is to help the PC SPOC review and submit application to National Grid.

The best thing to do is to review TP137.11 where all of the pre requisites are listed.  You would also need a Tier 1 Principal Contractor to act as a sponsor.

Obviously need M&E or Civils background depending on the role etc

  1. Competent Person NSI6 and NSI8 Full
  2. Full understanding of Impressed Voltage Awareness – usually Impressed Voltage for Managers (not the eLearning as part of NG Authorisations) and TP234 Q and A, a lot of PC’s also want the PCSM to be the Earthing Control Person and you would need to understand the PC’s IV processes etc
  3. Full understanding of UK Health and Safety legislation – usually CITB SMSTS Minimum and CDM 2015 1 day training and assessment, normally the PCSM is also the Temporary Works Coordinator and this is another CITB Course and formal appointment process
  4. Full Understanding of UK Waste Management Legislation – usually CITB SEATS
  5. Full understanding of avoiding underground services – usually the 2 day HSG47 in a Live HV substation
  6. Full understanding of relevant current NGET Transmission Procedures including latest Engineering Bulletins – (to cover a min of TP106, TP131, TP135, TP137, TP141, TP153, TP163, TP182, TP184, TP211, TP234, TP500, SHE201, SHE207, Latest safety bulletins, NG Safety Docs and Rules, NSI6 and NSI8
  7. Full understanding of the Contract documentation for the Project – NEC3 or NEC 4 and options usually a 2 day course and then time with the commercial team to take you through the actual contract you will be working to
  8. Full understanding of the Principal Contractor/Contractor Quality Management Procedures. (QMS)

We normally do all of the above via a series of training, assessments, quizzes, interviews, scenario lead problem solving etc.
